When NDC began, in 2001, North Huyton suffered from some of the worst levels of deprivation in the country. The £55.8 million awarded from the national NDC programme is being used as the key to transform the area into:
‘a place to be proud of, where people can achieve their full potential’.
Throughout, we believed that the regeneration programme should be ‘owned’ by the community and that the community should manage the implementation of the plans. North Huyton owes a huge debt of gratitude to everyone who has put time and energy into working together to achieve the best results for us all.
Our themes: education, employment &the local economy, housing &the environment, health &healthy living, community participation &young people, crime &community safety and communication &image were established early on in the programme.
Now we are seeing the results of our hard work, with visible changes appearing all around the area:
